short update

I just realized it has been forever since I had let you know how life is going for us. Well we went to Josh's parents house for this past weekend. All four White guys went hunting while the girls went out to eat and took naps!! It was all great fun even though we came back without a deer and a few extra pounds.
Now I'm home with a laundry to fold and a house to clean. So I should get to work. More to come later.

oh life.......... I just have to laugh!!

I know I have already blog today but I just had to tell you about supper tonight!! Well let me first explain that my oven is SO old. I have to relight it every time I use it. So tonight I decided I was going to fix baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. One more small detail I should mention it was the first meal I had ever made for my father-in-law. Well like I said the oven is very old and sometimes decides to just cook slower. Well the chicken was done 25 min late, than when I opened the microwave the bowel of broccoli fell out and all over the floor right in front of Josh and his father. Well we finally got to the supper table and all was good. We just had green beans so we still got our color. Just a memory made!!

cold hot cold hot:-(

This has to be the hardest and most annoying time of the year. It's freezing cold in the morning and I can't think of anything but to somehow get my feet warm. By afternoon I have the windows open and the air conditioner fan on. It tough on the throat, hard on the ears, but I'm sure it's going to be a wonderful winter!! Well its 141 days, 14 days, 45 min till spring!!!

Shop shop shop!!!!

Today me and my dear Friend, Christy decided to go shopping. Of course we went to all second hand stores and Walmart. To make to very long story much shorter, we were very lucky. You see my kitchen is decorated with bird houses but since I had been unable to find any bird houses my kitchen was simply plain!! That is till today, we were about to leave when I noticed one place that I had not been, and that is when I hit the gold mine!! I found 4 bird houses for $2.50 total (sorry for the details I just love good deals). They all needed re-painting but everyone knows that is fun!!

Well now they are all dry and ready to hang and I'm so very happy about that!!!

busy mind!!

Tonight I sat at a stop light and began to think. I was about 15 min from home yet I could have taken any of the other 3 routes and ended up at home. If I had turned right I would have ended up taking the busy interstate. If I would have gone straight I would have gone through town, with many stop lights through a rough area of town. And if I would have gone left I wound have to take the curve road through the trees than follow it along the river. Non of these were "right of wrong" it simply was different. Well that made me think about life and the many choices we have to make. When I have to choose which way to go to reach my final destination. One way may end up very busy, fast pass, never stopping like the interstate. Another may lead through risky roads that I would have to trust nothing jumped into my path, Any yet another could lead through rough times and have many stops. Non right of wrong just different. But we will never know what the route is going to hold until we take it. I had to stop and wonder which route I had/was choosing. No one else in at the same place so we each must choose for our self.

Sorry to ramble I was just thinking and decided to blog:-) And for you all who need the end of the store I chose to turn left!!

Happy day Happy day!!!

I decided that I was going to loose my little mind if I didn't get some sort of nature into my house. Dog, cat, plant, fish, hamster, rabbit, bird... etc. Well we aren't allowed to have any pets in the apartment so that removes dogs, cats, rabbits, hamster. Well that leaves fish, bird, and plants. Well I have limited sunlight so that removes plants. That leaves fish and bird. I don't like to change fish water cause it smalls bad. So that leaves birds. All that so say today I went and bought 2 parakeets!! Words can not explain how wonderful it is to hear birds singing while it is raining out side and the grass is know brown! Any help with their names...............????

Today Josh's quartet sang. There was a stage set up at a park and about 5 groups sang. It was a great day to hear them sing again and to get to see Christy again!

Christy's brother Joe came along! Lucas and Rachel.... crazy Ryders:-)

Some of them wanted to go play on the toy set... I said no. You should be proud dad!!
The guys wanted to get me in the tank but notice the color of the water..... no way!!

Another Great Weekend

On sat evening Josh and I decided to play some putt putt. To say the least I had never play and that was very clear by the total number of par, Josh 47 Rhoda 60. The sad thing is that the par total was supposed to be 39. But we had tons of fun!!

This where the balls were most of the time.... not in the hole.

I told Josh I wanted to get a picture of him with the Giraffe.

So he said he wanted a picture of me with the truck!!! Men:-)

Live

As I'm sure you all have heard many times Ike kinda throw a curve in our lives here in Cincinnati. Sunday around noon it started getting ugly outside. By that night we were without power and freezers started to melt. Well now it is Wed afternoon and we are still without power. My freezer and fridge is empty (thanks to a friend my freezer stuff was saved), my library books have all been read, and Internet is only found else where. The students all got to go home, all the staff got the week off but maintenance department. So I'm still here hanging out and realizing hope blessed I am to normally just flip a switch and get light. So that at update on me!!

Amazed

You know those days when it starts off great than it becomes amazing and finally it is wonderful!! Well that was today! Today just started off great. I went and babysat this morning for a few hours. The little guy was not feeling well so he was very calm and just laid on the couch (easy for me:-). I than met up with Christy Elliot for a few hours. There are some people in the world that are simply amazing! No matter what happens in their life they are always there to smile, pat your back, and talk. Well that is Christy. I love you girl!! And than this evening Josh and I just hung out. Went to Starbucks and used a gift card from our wedding and got something to drink and just enjoyed being together. Well that was after we had to work on the car yet again. Honestly, we should just go back to a horse and buggy!!

Comments Made in the Year 1955!
That's only 53 years ago!

'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.'

'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.'

'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous.

'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?'

'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.'

'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.'

'Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.'

'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas .'

'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.'

'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.'

'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.'

'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.'

'Marriage doesn't mean a thing any more, those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat.'

'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.'

'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.'

'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.'

'There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.'

'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for my blood.'

'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'
